Dikutip dari buku Kamus Kata-Kata Serapan Asing Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, Yus Badudu (2003: 219) masya Allah memilikipengertiansebenarnya adalah apa yang dikehendaki Allah bisa terjadi, yang biasa diucapka orang bisa merasa heran dan takjub akan sesuatu yang dianggap luar biasa.

Arti masya Allah dalam surat Al-Kahfi terdapat pada ayat ke 39 yaitu artinya: “

Dan mengapa kamu tidak mengatakan waktu kamu memasuki kebunmu "maasyaallaah, laa quwwata illaa billaah (sungguh atas kehendak Allah semua ini terwujud, tiada kekuatan kecuali dengan pertolongan Allah). Sekiranya kamu anggap aku lebih sedikit darimu dalam hal harta dan keturunan.”

Sedangkan arti dari tabarakallah merujuk pada kekaguman yang ditujukan untuk segala makhluk ciptaan Allah SWT, mulai dari manusia, hewan, tumbuhan, dan lain sebagainya. Di dalam Al-Quran arti tabarakallah berarti Maha Berkah, Maha Suci, dan Maha Tinggi.

Jadi ketika dua kata ini disandingkan artinya akan saling berkesinambungan dimana arti masya Allah adalah apa yang dikehenadaki oleh Allah SWT, maka itulah yang akan terjadi. Lalu dilanjutkan dengan tabarakallah, akan menjadi ungkapan kekaguman untuk memuji Allah SWT secara lengkap.

Jawaban MasyaAllah Tabarakallah

Saat mendengar kata masyaAllah sebagai seorang muslim yang baik hendaknya juga memberikan balasan dengan kata-kata yang baik yaitu dengan mengucapkan

Artinya: “Semoga Allah memberkatimu juga”

Sedangkan saat mendengar kalimat tabarakallah dari orang lain hendaknya kita memberikan jawaban dengan mengucapkan “Jazakallah khair” atau mengucapkan “Barakallah fii”. Kedua ucapan tersebut juga sama-sama memiliki doa dan pujian yang dipanjatkan kepada Allah SWT. Tabarakallah use in the Qur’an

Even in the Koran there are several verses that use the sentence Tabarakallah or تبارك الله. This is as stated in surah al-A’raf verse 54, surah Furqan verse 1, and surah ar-Rahman verse 78.

“The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if it is small.” (Bukhari).

The literal meaning of the Arabic word Mashallah is “what Allah has willed has happened.” And the Arabic word Tabarakallah literally means “may Allah bless.” It should be noted that in both of these words we are remembering Allah in the part of our conversation. Benefits of saying Mashallah Tabarakallah

“So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.” (Al-Baqara 2: Verse 152)

  1. Undoubtedly, Saying Mashallah Tabarakallah is the best way to remember Allah all the time. Not only that, by saying this phrase we are also asking Allah for His blessings.
  • Mashallah Tabarakallah is a kind of protection from evil eyes.

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the evil eye might attach itself to a man by permission of Allah, until he climbs a tall mountain and then throws himself off it.”

(Musnad Aḥmad 21471)

Such is the effect of an evil eye. It should be noted that we may put off evil eyes without any intention of jealousy too. So we should say Mashallah Tabarakallah whenever we see anything beautiful or happy.

Resposes to Mashallah Tabarakallah

It is not mandatory or Sunnah to say anything in response to Mashallah Tabarakallah. However, we can still give or return blessings for the person who said this phrase for us.

And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet with a better (greeting) than it or return it; surely Allah takes account of all things. Sūrah An-Nisaa (No. 4), verse 86

Hence, our response can be better or equivalent to Mashallah Tabarakallah.

  1. Barakallahu Feekum

This is another Arabic phrase which means- May Allah bless you. We can use it in response to Mashallah Tabarakallah and invoke Allah’s blessings for the other person as well.

  • JazakAllah Khair

This Arabic phrase means- May Allah reward you with goodness”. It is indeed an appropriate response as we acknowledge other people’s goodness and also ask for blessings from Allah SWT for him.

Mention of Tabarakallah in the Quran

There are many Surahs that mention the word Tabarakallah in their verse. This helps us in knowing not only its importance but also its meaning within the verses.

  • It is worthy to note here that Surah Al-Mulk (no. 67) is also known as Surah Tabarak.
  • Mention of Tabarakallah in Surah Al- A’raf, verse 54.
