It's really strange. The value is present in the sheet. I can see it. But Excel tells me, "We couldn't find what you were looking for. Click Options for more ways to search." And then when I hit Search once again without doing anything else, it suddenly find the value. Sometimes I have to do this thrice to make sure it finds the value. It's super inconvenient when I'm trying not to duplicate entries. Ever since I noticed this happening, I either search for the values manually or I do a search two to three times to make sure it's really not there.

Error message when trying to search
Got a strange question. I have always had the option to search in .xlsm but all of a sudden when I try and do it today, I get the error "We couldn't find what you were looking for. Click options for more ways to search." I am searching within cells that I know contain the item I am looking for in a multi-sheet .xlsm but still coming back with this error. Any clues?

Re: Error message when trying to search
Hi and welcome to the forum
What are you using for the search...CTRL F?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped youRegards

Re: Error message when trying to search
Thank you! I have never really used a forum, so I may be a little lost
I am just very close to pulling out my hair with this issue.Yes, I am using ctrl+f then searching within the alloted cells, but still coming back with that error for every sheet/every criteria I try to use.
Thanks!

Re: Error message when trying to search
When you CTRL F, click the Otions button, and change the "Look in" part from "formula" to "value" or vise versa, see if that helps?
You did say that you know that what you are looking for exists? Are there any extra spaces etc? test that its the same with =exatct() or just =this=that

Re: Error message when trying to search
Yes, I have tried all the different options and searched even for the first letter of what I was looking for, searched with a wildcard in front of it and still getting the same error message. Not sure if there's a setting somewhere that limits the option to search, or if someone has changed something in my spreadsheet. Hope that makes sense....

Re: Error message when trying to search
This happened to me after I tried to modify a pivot table, when I opened the Value Field Settings and then I tried to change the Number format suddenly the dialog box desapear in front of my eyes, I think ok, I will start ageing however Excel didn't works because when I clicked the mouset button only a buzz sound I got and Excel was didn't do nothing, then a friend kill the task after that I start Excel again since that moment I tried to use CTRL+F and put a name that appear in 5 cells of my sheet and I need to put a different colour for diferent names using CTRL+F function, however all the time Excel gives me the message: Microsoft Excel ! We couldn't find what you were looking for. Click Options for more ways to search. AND THE PUSHBUTTON "OK".
I copied the data and paste as value in another workbook and it didn't work. Then I tried with another workbooks and data sets, it didn't work anymore with any data, I need to reinstall my office 2013?
