Can you play Sims on Facebook?

The Sims by EA Studios is possibly one of the most iconic games to date, flaunting unique characters, NPCs, tasks, and much more. Players may find that neighbors are fairly important in The Sims FreePlay, but adding them can be tricky.

Players can add neighbors in Sims FreePlay by linking their Facebook account to the game. Facebook friends who also play Sims FreePlay will automatically be listed as Neighbors under the World icon.

Although adding friends or neighbors in Sims FreePlay is pretty straightforward, there are a few things to be aware of for the smoothest experience possible. Stick around to find out how to get neighbors in Sims FreePlay, as well as why they may disappear in your world.

How To Add More People On Sims FreePlay?

Having neighbors is not the primary goal in Sims FreePlay, but it is still important. Players can complete weekly Social Goals in order to earn Social Points, and these Social Goals generally require players to visit a Neighbor’s Town and complete tasks with another Sim.

Fortunately, adding a friend or neighbor is quite easy. But, the method will depend on which platforms you play and prefer. We’ve highlighted everything you need to do to add up to 100 neighbors in Sims FreePlay, with images thanks to EA Answers HQ.

Add Neighbors Using Facebook

Facebook is the primary method for adding neighbors in Sims FreePlay. In these cases, the only neighbors visible will be the friends that you have on Facebook – who are also logged in to Facebook in the Sims FreePlay.

It may take some time, but it’s the only guaranteed method. Follow the steps below to add friends or neighbors to the Sims FreePlay via Facebook:

Android

1. Link your Facebook account to Sims FreePlay.
2. Launch Sims FreePlay and wait for the Main Menu to load.
3. Select the three dots icon, located at the bottom. This will open a new screen.
4. Navigate to the Account Management section by clicking on the lock icon.
5. Select the Login button visible in the Facebook box.
6. If Facebook is installed on your device and you are logged in, press Continue to connect it to Sims FreePlay.
7. If it was successful, you should be able to see your name.
8. You should be able to access neighbors (Facebook friends) via the World icon in the bottom menu.

iOS

1. Link your Facebook account to Sims FreePlay.
2. Launch Sims FreePlay and wait for the Main Menu to load.
3. Select the three dots icon, located at the bottom. This will open a new screen.
4. Navigate to the Account Management section by clicking on the lock icon.
5. Select the Login button visible in the Facebook box.
6. If necessary, you may need to activate tracking from the iOS settings.
7. Access the iOS/ iPadOS Settings by clicking the gear wheel icon.
8. Select Privacy and Tracking.
9. Move the lever to Request activity tracking from OFF to ON.
10. Close and reopen Sime FreePlay.
11. Press Allow.
12. Go back to Account Management and press Login for Facebook again.
13. If Facebook is installed on your device and you are logged in, press Continue to connect it to Sims FreePlay.
14. If it was successful, you should be able to see your name.
15. You should be able to access neighbors (Facebook friends) via the World icon in the bottom menu.

Add Neighbors Using Game Center

As of iOS 10, the Game Center app has been removed. It is still possible to add neighbors, but it’s become much more complex and inconvenient.

Players may still be able to add neighbors by allowing nearby people to add you with the following steps:

1. Navigate to Settings
2. Locate Game Center
3. Allow people to add you through WiFi or Bluetooth

Otherwise, players may be able to manually add neighbors with the following steps:

1. Add the player using their username or email address and select the ‘+’ button at the top right corner.
2. iMessage the person you want to add as a neighbor.
3. If they accept your request, they should appear in your Party Boat.

The above steps may work for anyone who does not have iOS 10 or above. However, they may find that people who have iOS 10 and above will not be able to accept requests.

In the past, players could use Google Play Games to add neighbors as well. However, Google+ has been removed. Considering the complexity of using the Game Center app, Facebook is the simplest way to connect with friends in the Sims FreePlay.

Why Are My Neighbors Not Showing Up In Sims FreePlay?

The simplest reason for people not showing up as neighbors is the possibility that none of your Facebook friends play Sims FreePlay. But, in some cases, it could be an entirely different issue.

This issue could be due to numerous aspects on Facebook’s end. Facebook made the following statement back in June 2020:

“To restore your list of Neighbors, simply visit the Account Manager section in your Game Settings. Log out of Facebook and log back in again! Please note: Inactive players wont show up again unless they update their game and log back into Facebook.”

If people visit your town and are unable to view items, odds are that they are not seeing the updated version. You’ll need to connect to the cloud and select ‘upload save data’ in order for neighbors to see the updated version of your game.

It can take some time before neighbors will appear on your Party Boat, so players might need to wait a while before they can visit neighboring towns. From this point, you’ll be able to play Sime FreePlay with your friends while stacking up Social Points for awesome in-game rewards!
