I've been wondering this a long.. long... time... since youtube puts cache on your computer it kinda makes sense to download your favourite youtube videos for you can watch them on your Ie: (NAS) Network Storage Server. Im kinda confused over this... Does anyone know if its legal to do in Australia? And is it legal to rip dvds onto a NAS to use on ie: PLEX?

YouTube has recently changed their policies about this. It is illegal for any apps or programs to download YouTube videos even for personal use. So no, it is not allowed.

You're creating copies, so probably not. But as long as you're not distributing, they won't really care much. Unless they have some sort of crackdown on those youtube-video download sites.

Am sorry, but fuck this. I have rights. Freedom of speech and all. I have personally downloaded countless videos from youtube. The 1-Click Video Youtube Downloader extension for firefox is very handy btw.
